This weekend Rotterdam Centre will be full of awesome events! With the closing ceremony of the World Police and Fire Game, Rotterdam Unlimited Summer Carnival and more, it promises to be another weekend with many people and lots of fun.
You may have already noticed that the World Police And Fire Games have been going on in Rotterdam since July 22. Unfortunately, the great international event that will be organized in Rotterdam for the first time is approaching its end at the end of this week.
The event aims to create encounters between rescuers through sport. While the aid workers actively participate in the Games, they also hope to generate respect for the work they do for society.
Although there will still be rowing, bowling and hockey on Friday and Saturday, the event will be closed on Sunday, just like the Coolsingel. This is where the final ceremony takes place. Athletes get the opportunity to talk some more and of course there is the award ceremony. In addition to celebration, some time has also been set aside for the commemoration of all rescuers who died in the line of duty during their heroic work.
After three years, Summer Carnival will finally start again in Rotterdam on Friday 29 July! Under the name Rotterdam Unlimited, the world-famous festival is making its comeback. The city is turned upside down for a weekend! Dancers, drummers, sound systems, floats: you will see it all this weekend in Rotterdam Centre.
On Fridays, brass bands tour the city and you can get delicious food at Mercado, a street market with delicious and exotic dishes. In the evening there will be a closing ceremony at the Lightning Parade. The entire Coolsingel is then beautifully lit and brass bands and dancers, also beautifully lit, provide a great party!
It's all about to explode on Saturday! The famous street parade then takes place. It's a party all over town. Thousands of musicians, dancers of all ages walk through the city. Enjoy Caribbean vibes in the middle of Rotterdam!
Thanks to these awesome events, it will be quite busy in our city centre! So keep that in mind when you visit Rotterdam. The Coolsingel will be closed from Thursday 20:00 to Monday 7:00.
