Curious about the fun events that await you in Rotterdam in March? This month is all about art! From cultural nights during Museumnacht010, to the most special exhibition in Ahoy Rotterdam.
On March 1, 2025, it's time again: Museum Night Rotterdam. Explore Rotterdam's museums in a unique way. From 8:00 PM to 1:00 AM, you have access to dozens of cultural hotspots in Rotterdam.
Curious about the programme? It's full of exhibitions, performances, workshops, taste explosions and more! So it's pretty hard to make a choice. Read our article via the button below for a few good tips!
During Art Week, the city is completely dedicated to art! From 26 to 30 March, you can visit no less than fifty locations with fairs, exhibitions, open studios, tours, artist talks and more. From sensational openings to surprising pop-up shows, art can be seen, experienced and enjoyed everywhere for five days.
During Art Week, you can visit the 26th edition of Art Rotterdam from Friday 28 to Sunday 30 March. And this time at a new location, namely Ahoy Rotterdam, which offers space for no less than 28,000 international collectors, curators, professionals and art lovers.
What can you expect from this edition? First of all, larger works of art! Thanks to the location, there is room to give large-scale components free rein, such as the video section Projections, Intersections and Sculpture Park. With no less than five curated sections, there is a lot to discover during Art Rotterdam. Do you have your ticket yet?
Did you receive a Book Week gift? Then you will receive free admission to Museum Rotterdam on the last day of Book Week - Sunday 23 March! This year's theme is Your Mother Language, which is about the language in which we read, write and share stories. Museum Rotterdam is therefore opening its doors so that you can discover more about how language connects us, even in times of war.
On Saturday 1 March it is (unfortunately) already the last day of the skating season in Rotterdam. And it will be a festivity! The day starts with the last skating lessons, skating with Anna and Elsa, the winter games for kids and a balloon artist. From 19:00 the music starts and it is time for the very last silent disco of the season. With two DJs on two channels it promises to be a great party. And of course the rainbow lights will be on the entire day!
From March 8 to June 15, there is a new exhibition in Brutus, called EVERYTHING IS TRUE - NOTHING IS PERMITTED. Here you can view the exhibition for a few weeks, with highly explosive work by Marina Abramovic, Cassils, Kara Walker, Edith Dekyndt, Santiago Sierra, Selma Selman, Gilbert and George, Arthur Jafa and Alfredo, among others.
This exhibition revolves around the resilience of real artists, who sink their teeth into police violence, racism, beauty ideals, power inequality and capitalism. Without moralizing, they show what art can be: a language to contain the madness, stress and traumas of the contemporary world.
