Come to the Rotterdam surf festival Rotterdam Surf Open, full of fun, music and surf. Because after years of planning, building and testing, RiF010 will open on Saturday, July 6!
To celebrate this, the first edition of the Rotterdam Surf Open will be held, an annual surfing competition for children, amateurs and professional surfers.
A surfing competition where everyone can compete to catch the best waves. It's nice to know that the surfing festival is free and therefore accessible to everyone.
During the competitions, a certified jury is present to judge the surfers. Several surfers have already registered through sponsors O'Neill, Red Bull and Breitling. Sports commentators Erik Ringelberg and Thomas van Bemmelen will take you into the world of surfing during the competitions and explain how the scoring system works.
The festival starts at 10:30 AM with the Rotterdam Schools Competition for children and the longboard competition. During the longboard competition you can watch Ben Skinner, who came 3rd at the Longboard World Championships. Our own Dutch longboarding champion will also participate.
The official opening of RiF010 will be at 12:00 noon by sports councilor Faouzi Achbar. With some nice music and a lot of fun, RiF010 is now officially ready to get started.
The shortboard competitions for young people under 18 years old will take place at 2:00 PM, followed by the open surfing contest. After these surfers have caught some good waves, it is the turn of the international surfing professionals to show their best work.
In addition to winning in their own category, participants also compete for a spot in the pro competition. It is therefore possible that a Rotterdammer or young talent will compete against an international surfing professional in the final.
Of course it's not a festival without some good music, a drink and a snack. For example, the Rotterdam party band Convoi Exceptional will start the party, while dance music by Pat Smith and afrobeats by Longo Longo can be heard later in the day. DJs Billy Ray de la Haye and Bootsy Paul also come by to play some records.
You are welcome at RiF010 all day long, whether you come to surf or just want to enjoy a snack, a drink and a view of the talented surfers from the quay.
