How fun! A new karaoke bar has opened in Rotterdam: Dikke Mic, the sister company of Mooie Boules. Besides the fact that you can sing your heart out here, there are Asian snacks, drinks and a fully equipped arcade room. Be sure to read on!
In Dikke Mic you imagine yourself in Asia. There is a beautiful cherry blossom tree, cheerful Chinese lanterns and colourful graffiti and manga art. In addition, the basement, where you can find the karaoke rooms, is inspired by the small Asian streets and alleys. Each room has its own theme.
According to entrepreneur Daan van Hal, Dikke Mic was created out of sheer necessity: "We have a karaoke room in our adjacent store, Mooie Boules, but it is so popular that it is bursting at the seams. Because we don't like to disappoint people, we decided to open an authentic, Japanese karaoke bar. And that's how Dikke Mic came into existence. The atmosphere and the quality of bites and drinks that you are used to from Mooie Boules, but with an Asian twist."
Dikke Mic has eight karaoke rooms that are fully equipped with high-end karaoke equipment. These can be booked for groups from four to 30 people. Guests can order snacks and drinks from the karaoke room via tablets.
Do you prefer to keep your singing skills in the shower? There's also a super cool arcade space, with racing booths, basketball, boxing, air hockey and more. The arcade room can be visited without reservation.
The menu of Dikke Mic is composed by star chef Ron Blaauw and offers a choice of various Asian street food snacks. Have a nice meal in the bar or order snacks while singing. A reservation for a snack and a drink for small groups is not necessary. Large groups can order extensive platters with tasty dishes from the menu, such as yakitori with chicken and spring onions, octopus takoyaki, barbecue ribs with hoisin sauce and crispy onion or tacos with mackerel and lime leaf.
There are also plenty of delicious options for vegetarians, such as broccoli tempura with yuzu, samosas with potato or crispy gyoza with mushroom and garlic chili. Sharing is allowed, but a dish all for yourself is of course also an option.
