Grab your new agenda for 2024, because there are already something fun planned. From January 31 to February 4, 2024 it is time for Rotterdam Art Week. During that week our city is all about art, design and architecture.
Visit special exhibition openings, admire outdoor installations and enjoy pop-up shows and open studios. Do you find it difficult to make a choice from the programme? Below you will find four great tips!
Art Institute Melly, formerly known as Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art, has been around since 1990 and is located in a beautiful monumental building in Witte de Withstraat. Melly shares this building, a former girls' school from 1875, with TENT.
During Rotterdam Art Week you can visit the My Oma exhibition project. It focuses on the role of the grandmother, and explores the personal and cultural legacies that emerge from both affection and conflict. It brings together artists and stories, as well as artworks and theory that articulate central issues of our time: experiences of immigration, dissonant heritage and changing gender roles.
The Boijmans van Beuningen Depot is the world's first publicly accessible depot! No fewer than 151,000 art objects can be discovered here.
During Rotterdam Art Week you are welcome here to view the film and video collection of German-Italian visual artist and filmmaker Rosa Barba. Barba is known for her film installations and sculptures. Boijmans has digitized the collection in recent years, making this part now accessible to everyone. To celebrate this, the museum has invited Rosa Barba. She will show work from the film and video collection and reflect on this with her own installation and various performances.
