Have you spotted it yet? The new facade poem on the Coolsingel? A beautiful fragment from the famous poem 'Blik op Rotterdam', by writer Alex Boogers.
The creation of this new work of art is thanks to a collaboration between Boekhandel Donner, the foundation De Zoek naar Schittering, the Municipality of Rotterdam and Fairplay Casino. It was therefore during the book week that this new facade poem was unveiled.
Why this location, you may ask? Boekhandel Donner is located in a monumental building, so it is not possible to place a poem on it. The solution? The casino across the street!
It is a poem for the city, created during the corona period, when Alex Boogers wrote the poem for the opening of the Depot. This poem was sold on posters and the proceeds were used to help Rotterdam bookshops during this difficult time. A wonderful initiative and a beautiful poem; enough reason to immortalize the work in the Rotterdam street scene, Boekhandel Donner thought.
