The progressive and diverse Festival Downtown returns to Rotterdam for its tenth edition! On Friday 20 and Saturday 21 September 2024 you can visit the festival at various indoor and outdoor locations.
Think of WORM, Club Centraal, Cannibale Royale, Boomgaardsstraat, Eendrachtsplein and Westblaak. Admission to the festival is free during the day, but tickets are required for the evening programme.
Over the past nine years, Festival Downtown has built a strong reputation as a discovery festival. Well-known artists such as Flowdan, Kojey Radical, James BKS, Baloji, Joe Armon-Jones, Dorian Concept, Gold Panda, Special Request and Loraine James have graced the stages of the festival. Rotterdam artists such as De Likt, Pink Oculus and Brintex Collective also played some of their very first shows at the festival.
Festival Downtown is deeply rooted in the culture and DNA of Rotterdam, with the motto “Redefining Rotterdam / Reshaping The Narrative” where the vision and mission come to life with every edition. As the largest port city in the Western world, trends have always landed in Rotterdam. This makes it a cultural melting pot and breeding ground for new music and scenes. Festival Downtown celebrates this diversity and strongly believes in Rotterdam's pioneering position.
This year the festival has a great line-up, with headline acts from the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands and Syria. Headliners include DJ Mag's Best British DJ in 2021 Sherelle, Syrian world phenomenon Omar Souleyman, internationally recognized Dutch collective Another Taste, hard-hitting DnB producer and DJ Flava D, UK artist Iglooghost, Studio Brussels resident Blck Mamba, the UK established Ghanaian act K.O.G Soundsy.
