Have you heard? The Rotterdam Central Library is being renovated. The well-known building, designed by architectural firm Van den Broek en Bakema, is due for renovation after almost 40 years of existence.
In addition to the necessary renovation, the plan is to make the Central Library a meeting place. In November 2021, five design teams were commissioned to sketch a design for the new library on Binnenrotte.
The sketch designs are finished! From March 23 to April 13, these can be seen in an exhibition in the Central Hall of the library on large panels.
Are you not able to go to the library? Not a problem! All five sketch designs can also be viewed on the website of the Central Library of Rotterdam.
Give your opinion about the renewed Central Library Rotterdam. This can be done on location by completing the questionnaire on iPads or via the link above. It is possible to give feedback per design. Currently this is only possible in Dutch.
The winning sketch design will be announced in June 2022 and construction will start in 2026. We can't wait!
