On Monday, February 5, Gault&Millau unveiled the long-awaited restaurant guide for 2024. A total of 18 prestigious awards were presented, with two Rotterdam hotspots winning prizes: 'Cocktail Bar of the Year' and 'Wine List of the Year'. Cheers!
Vineum has won the prestigious award for 'Wine List of the Year'. This beautiful restaurant is located on Eendrachtsweg, housed in a beautiful historic house with a private garden. Wine lovers will feel completely at home here thanks to the extensive range of wines.
Gault&Millau: "The wine selection is enormous and if you opt for a menu, we recommend that you choose one of the favorites of owner and sommelier David M. van Steenderen or get advice from one of the sommeliers."
Also special: In 2022, Vineum also received the Bib Gourmand, a recognition for restaurants with an excellent price-quality ratio.
For 'Cocktail Bar of the Year', the 2024 winner is none other than The Rumah. The Rumah is located on the Oude Binnenweg, a stone's throw from the Witte de Withstraat. Gault&Millau praises The Rumah for its intimate atmosphere and fun, diverse bar team.
Gault&Millau: "In this cocktail destination by Daryl Lieuw-On and Edward Nijhoff, it is mainly about sugar cane distillates, rum and cachaça, and you can taste the most beautiful rum from all corners of the world. Cocktails are mainly - but by no means exclusively - made with these spirits, and are always a hit."
And which cocktail should you absolutely try? According to Gault&Millau this is the W.T.F. (What The Funk), a fruity and funky flavour explosion with a perfect mix of Jamaican rum, guava, lime and bitters.
