A beautiful lifestyle store was opened at Van Oldenbarneveltplaats 402 in September 2021: Marjorie Fernandes X Life at Goodiez. In the shop you can buy everything from the golden hangers the clothes hang on to the chairs you sit on.
A new hidden gem right in the centre of Rotterdam. Because even though it has a top location, you might walk past it if you don't know it's there!
The store was created when two entrepreneurs, interior stylist Agaath Gorré and fashion designer Marjorie Fernandes, joined forces. Marjorie has been designing her own clothing line since 2016 and since 2019 her studio has been above the retail store. The ball started rolling when Agaath started furnishing Marjorie's studio. The retail space was empty and that was the beginning for Marjorie Fernandes X Life at Goodiez. Their name says it all, a real collaboration between two existing brands.
Their new store has been open since September, with Agaath taking care of the interior design, home accessories and jewelry, while Marjorie designs the clothing, hats and bags. You can score everything in this store!
Everything you see in the store is for sale. From the golden hangers and the clothes hanging on them to the chairs you sit on. It's clear that at this shop they really take the time for you; they immediately offer a drink with something tasty such as a cookie. And the glass you drink from... it's also for sale!
The products they sell are a fusion between their own African roots and the Western world. In addition, all clothing is locally made by Marjorie and her team.
Sustainability is certainly one of their values. They don't buy too many fabrics and they don't follow seasonal fashion. "We absolutely do not sell fast fashion. The leather is vegan and, for example, there are not too many fabrics in stock. This also makes us more exclusive," says Marjorie.
Furthermore, not too many home accessories are purchased, so that nothing goes to waste. And they also think practically for their own interior. For example, Agaath purposely did not buy a Christmas tree, but a golden Christmas branch. "We can use it again for Easter, then we'll just hang Easter eggs in it."
Are you trying on a dress in the store that just doesn't fit quite right? Or would you rather have sleeves on a sleeveless dress? Then you can go directly to the studio upstairs to have it tailor made.
It is even possible to bring your own fabrics to have a garment tailor made. Marjorie does stick to her own brand, where quality comes first.
