The Maritime Festival, during the World Port Days, is packed with maritime activities. Step aboard and discover the maritime world of the past, present and future. Also in the week preceding the World Port Days, all sorts of things are happening in the museum harbour.
During the entire festival, the Maritime Museum Harbor is the place to drop anchor! Take a look aboard one of the many ships. Participate in the many activities or just sit on the terrace of IJssalon Loeve or museum café 'Het Lage Licht' to enjoy all the beauty that can be seen and experienced this weekend at the Maritime Museum.
During the Maritime Festival we show three special maritime photo exhibitions. With both feet on the ground you can experience in these exhibitions what life and work at sea can be like.
This time the sailing fishing fleet is our guest, as well as the many ships that have been used over the years for work in the harbour.
There are several maritime and open-air museums in the Netherlands. A number of these will be guests at the Maritime Museum Haven this weekend.
In our workshops, it is busy during the Maritime Festival. In workshop 1, the wood workshop, we are building a lifeboat for our coaster 'Zeemeeuw' together with the Hout- & Meubileringscollege. While students and volunteers/employees are finishing the lifeboat, the young visitors can also get to work and build their own model boat.
There is a wide range of ships: fishing, inland shipping, work ships, pleasure craft and kayaks. Join one of the guided tours and discover more about the passion of sailing and maintaining one of these jewels, many of them from Dutch soil. Maritime Dutch design through the years.
