Register here for the Christmas sing-a-long
This year we can again admire the impressive Christmas tree in front of the Rotterdam City Hall. Do you want to be there when it is lit? Then come to the Town Hall on Friday, December 8 at 6 PM.
As always, our mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb will switch on the lights. He does this together with children's mayor Dominique. A magical Christmas moment that you absolutely want to be there!
For the ultimate Christmas feeling, you are welcome at the Coolsingel on December 8 at 6 PM. In addition to the lighting of the Christmas tree by Mayor Aboutaleb, the ZangExpress school choir will provide Christmas carols. There will also be a mini Christmas concert by Rotterdam city carillonneur Richard de Waardt, starting at 5 PM.
City organist Adriaan Hoek will start with a Christmas Sing-a-long concert at 5 PM. Super fun to attend with your children. The concert lasts forty-five minutes and takes place in the Citizens' Hall of the City Hall. Admission is completely free, but registration is recommended, because there is limited capacity in the Citizens' Hall.
It is nice to know that the origin of the mega Christmas tree has been considered. The tree has been grown in a sustainable way and is also illuminated with energy-efficient LED lights.
As soon as 2024 comes and we can no longer see oliebollen and fireworks, the tree will be removed in an environmentally friendly manner. For example, planks are sawn off the trunk that can be used again later and chips from the tree are used for walkways in forests and nature reserves.
