As a true Rotterdammer, I have been coming to the city centre since I was young. I have seen countless hotspots come and go and thanks to my work for Rotterdam Centre, among others, I stay informed of the best places.
My favourite hotspots change regularly, but a few favourites will always remain. I share them below so that you have an unforgettable time in Rotterdam!
A visit to the Skins is really a trip for me. Not only is the interior super luxurious, I love all the unique perfumes they sell here. Brands and scents that I can't find anywhere else, so I discover something new every time. They also sell beautiful make-up brands here that you would otherwise have to shop online.
And did you know that you can also book facial treatments at Skins? I once received one as a gift and it was amazing!
Anyone who knows me knows that I am very enthusiastic about healthy food. A visit to the Groene Passage is therefore something I should not do if I am in a hurry. The Gimsel supermarket is full of organic products from brands that you will not find at regular supermarkets. And here you have the opportunity to shop some products plastic-free!
Next to Gimsel is Spirit, a buffet-style restaurant, where you can fill your plate with organic, freshly made dishes. Ideal if you want a healthy lunch and want to taste something of everything.
We stay in the healthy vibes, because at Harvest you eat out without feeling guilty. On the corner of the cozy Proveniersstraat, you will find this gem, where they cook with local, seasonal products.
Choose a ready-made bowl or put together your own bowl. First you choose the basis of the dish, then two dishes from the greengrocer and finally you can choose a vegetarian dish or a piece of meat. Highly recommended!
I look forward to winter every year, because that's when the Rotterdam skating rink opens! You can skate here for three months on the 400 meter track or the fun track. And afterwards you of course order a nice hot chocolate. It's also fun to do a curling workshop with your colleagues; laughter is guaranteed!
This hidden gem is a truly beautiful part of Rotterdam. In Kralingen you will find the beautifully maintained garden of Trompenburg. You can enter for a small price and take a peaceful walk, but they also organize fun events during the year. For example, there is often a Christmas market in the winter and in the summer you can dine at the traveling restaurant De Maaltuin.
