By transforming the Goot into a temporary information space, the Koopgoot wants to bring about change and contribute to more accessible knowledge and self-confidence. Talking about sexual health can be quite difficult for some. There are still taboos when it comes to, for example, STDs and menstruation. To break this, de Goot offers a diverse programme in which self-confidence is central in a safe and pleasant atmosphere.
Self-confidence is necessary to indicate wishes and boundaries, to be able to carry condoms without fear of judgment and to seek help when there are concerns or doubts. In de Goot, sexual health is not only about the body, but also about mental and social well-being, together with the positive experience of sexuality. And, the inescapable influence of social media.
On June 6 and 13, the Goot will be filled with test kits and advice. The Dutch platform Soapoli-online will run a safe testing street where free test kits are distributed that can be used on location or at home. The test results are known the next day. The tests are for chlamydia and gonorrhea.
