Hofplein VO Juurlink Geluk

Hofplein is getting a makeover! But don't worry, there are plenty of smart actions to try out alternative travel options, and thus reach Rotterdam Centre. Want to know more? Read on quickly.

From 14 April 2025, the Hofplein in Rotterdam will undergo a major transformation. The busy traffic square will be transformed into a green, car-free city square with more space for pedestrians and cyclists. Although these works will temporarily cause traffic disruption, the centre of Rotterdam will fortunately remain easily accessible.

What will change from April 14?

The square will be renovated from April 2025. The work will last until the end of 2027 and will be carried out in phases.

In the first phase, from 14 April to 19 September 2025, there will be various closures for car traffic, cyclists and pedestrians. For example, it is not possible to turn right from the Coolsingel to Pompenburg or to drive straight on to the Schiekade. The cycle paths and footpaths between Coolsingel and Haagseveer are also closed. Diversions are clearly indicated with signs and via digital journey planners.

Bicycle sheds in Rotterdam Centre

Cycling to Rotterdam Centre is always a good idea! There is enough space to safely park your bike, and a nice ride through the city is also fun.

There are various public and non-public bicycle sheds available. For example, you have a brand new bicycle shed in De Koopgoot, where there is room for more than 900 bicycles.

The entrance to the bicycle shed is located on the Westewagenstraat, on the -1 floor of the AIR building (formerly V&D). This means that the shed is only a few meters from the Koopgoot, ideally located close to all shops and restaurants in Rotterdam Centre.
