Fietsenstalling Koopgoot

Since this week it has become easier to find a free, dry place for your bicycle in the heart of Rotterdam. The new bicycle parking area De Koopgoot is open!

On Wednesday, October 16, the new Koopgoot bicycle parking area was festively opened by Alderman Lansink-Bastemeijer (Mobility). With space for more than 900 bicycles, this is now the third largest bicycle parking area in Rotterdam!

Super central

The entrance to the bicycle parking is located on Westewagenstraat, on the -1 floor of the AIR building (formerly V&D). This means that the parking facility is just a few metres from the Koopgoot, ideally located close to all shops and restaurants in Rotterdam Centre.

The parking area offers space for various types of bicycles: standard bicycles, electric bicycles, bicycles with crate or child seat, and two-wheeled cargo bicycles. In addition, sixteen free storage and charging points are available for the batteries of electric bicycles.

Also good to know: there is a public toilet available in this facility.

An asset to the city

More and more people live and work in the city, and the number of cyclists has increased by 45% in the past ten years. To meet this growing demand, the municipality of Rotterdam is gradually expanding the number of bicycle parking areas. This new storage facility is more than welcome!

Alderman Pascal Lansink-Bastemeijer: “Rotterdam is a city that is changing rapidly, especially in the field of transport. The number of cyclists has increased enormously over the past ten years and we must make room for all those extra bicycles and cycling movements. With this new parking facility we create 900 places in the centre for bicycles that would otherwise be on the street. With the new storage at the Koopgoot, your bicycle will be safe and dry and we will ensure less clutter on the street. The parking facility is a huge asset to the city.”
