Beep for Help Rotterdam1

On August 20, Beep for Help opened its first branch at Hoogstraat 16 in Rotterdam. This means that this non-medical emergency service without a queue is now available to all Rotterdam residents. The aim of Beep for Help is to help elderly people and vulnerable target groups become more independent and thus relieve the pressure on informal care.

After the start-up successfully launched its assistance service in Amsterdam, opening its second branch in the Netherlands is a logical next step. “Rotterdam is a large city, with a large number of elderly people and many challenges in the field of care,” says Eugène Meinders, operational director of Beep for Help.

What does Beep for Help do?

Beep for Help's helpers can be called by telephone or via an app for various jobs. The people seeking and giving help are connected that way. The organization affiliated with AMVN offers efficient and reliable assistance via the app and telephone line, with the aim of relieving the elderly and informal caregivers as much as possible. This includes domestic help, help in the garden, guidance or chores in and around the house.

Emergency service and meeting place

In addition, the branch is a meeting place for the target group, meaning the location fulfills a social role. For example, elderly people from the neighbourhood can come together here for a cup of coffee or tea.

Meinders explains: “At our branch in Amsterdam we have noticed that residents would like to make contact with us and each other. We want to continue this concept in Rotterdam and improve it where possible. Beep for Help wants to be part of the community and be an accessible point of contact for requests for help in the area. That is why we bring neighbours and our target group together in our so-called 'living room', while enjoying a cup of coffee or tea.”
