On May 5th we celebrate that we were liberated in 1945 and we reflect on freedom. That is why the Rotterdamsevrijheidsmaaltijden organizes and stimulates meals for and by Rotterdammers. A great way to connect and realize that we have to cherish freedom.
On May 5 you can sit down for a meal throughout the city. This is possible for breakfast, lunch or dinner (preferably with a Freedom Soup) at a cafe, care centre, theatre or at the neighbours. The meal starts with a toast about freedom and during dinner, people can talk about freedom together.
Every year a well-known Dutch chef develops a new recipe for the special Freedom Soup. A Rotterdam chef then gives it a nice Rotterdam twist.

Do you also want to eat together? Then click on the map on the website of Rotterdam Freedom Meals and see where you can join. Or order a can of Freedom Soup yourself!
