It is almost time for NN Marathon Rotterdam 2023. On April 13 and 14, all sports enthusiasts will be back in the starting blocks for an iconic round of Rotterdam.
The start of the 43st edition is at the foot of the Erasmus Bridge. The runners cross the bridge in the direction of Rotterdam South. Eventually they end up on the Coolsingel.
Even if you don't run the marathon, you can certainly be a part of it. Every year there are hundreds of thousands of enthusiastic spectators along the side who create a great vibe. Here you can motivate the runners and taste the atmosphere!
Is the full marathon still a bit too ambitious for you? Fortunately, there are plenty of other fun options to successfully run across the Coolsingel. For example, participate in the quarter marathon!
The urban course of the ¼ Marathon Rotterdam starts on the Burgermeester van Walsumweg near the iconic Markthal and runs under the cube houses through the heart of Rotterdam. The total length of the course is 10.55 km and runs over part of the official marathon course.
There is also the City Run of 4.2 km, where you finish in the same place as the marathon participants the next day. For the kids there is the NN Kids Run, with distances of 1 km and 2.5 km. This gives them an experience they will never forget at a young age!
Finally, there is the 'Your Marathon Challenge' and the 'Marathon Walking Route'. In short: there is something to do for everyone!
Because the city is partially closed on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 April, it may be difficult to reach some areas. The best tip is therefore to travel by public transport or bicycle, for both participants and spectators. Get off at Beurs or Blaak metro stations and easily walk to the start and finish location. Will you come and support the start of the full marathon on Sunday? Then get off at Wilhelminaplein metro station.
Are you not participating in the marathon, but would you like to come to Rotterdam to cheer on the runners? Super! However, running the entire marathon takes a while. To keep you entertained or grab a bite to eat in the meantime, we've listed some of our favorite places. View them via the button!
