Are you already familiar with Hilton Rotterdam's sustainable initiative? Businesses will have the opportunity to reduce their environmental impact from their meetings and events through carbon offsetting.
Since April 2021, Hilton has been offering these climate neutral meetings and events in partnership with South Pole Group. This project is part of Hilton's 'Travel with Purpose' goals to halve the carbon footprint and double social engagement by 2030. The initiative started in eight hotels in the Netherlands and has eventually been applied worldwide.
“Our guests are just as committed to reducing their environmental impact as we are, and we are happy to do our part to support these shared ambitions with this partnership.” said Erwin Verhoog, Hilton's Vice President, Operations Continental Europe.
The carbon footprint of all meetings and events with ten or more guests will be offset by investments in various South Pole Group projects that contribute to achieving Hilton's 'Travel with Purpose' 2030 goals.
Founded in May 2018, 'Travel with Purpose' is Hilton's ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) strategy to drive responsible travel and tourism globally.

Together with Hilton Event Ready Hybrid Solutions, the Hilton hotels in the Netherlands are equipped to organize a hybrid meeting that is hygienic, flexible, safe and socially responsible. The hotels also work with businesses to reduce food waste and paper use. In addition, the use of the digital key for contactless check-in and check-out is encouraged in order to reduce the use of plastic key cards.
Hilton also uses LightStay to calculate the energy, water, carbon and waste consumption of a meeting. Lightstay is a Hilton Worldwide platform. This platform is used to measure environmental and social impact. With this calculation Hilton decides which high-value South Pole CO2 reduction projects should be invested in to offset the CO2 emissions of the event or meeting.
