The Hilton Rotterdam exists 60 years! On May 30, 1963, this well-known hotel opened its doors and grew to become the perfect place to stay for many in the heart of our city.
A new part of the Rotterdam skyline, designed by architect Huig Maaskant, contributed to the reconstruction of our city. Over the years, the hotel has adapted to keep up with the times and to stay connected to the Rotterdam community. Now, 60 years later, they celebrate this big milestone!
In 1963, Hilton Rotterdam was the fourth hotel in Europe to be opened by Conrad Hilton himself. On the outside, the building is still a reflection of the time when it was built. In the 1960s it was seen as modern, with a facade of white concrete and glass, clean lines, a functional design and a raised entrance.
Over the past 60 years, the hotel has been regularly renovated on the inside to keep up with the times. What has never changed, however, is the traditional Rotterdam charm. For years it has shown that the city is a cultural and cosmopolitan hub. One that constantly reinvents itself and continues to innovate.
"We look forward to celebrating this special anniversary and showing our appreciation to everyone who has contributed to the success of our hotel. It is an honor to be part of the Rotterdam community and we look forward to the next 60 years of inspiring guest experiences." Shares Jolijn Zeeuwen, General Manager of Hilton Rotterdam.
In addition to the luxurious overnight stays, you can also enjoy delicious food at the Hilton. At the stylish restaurant JAQ or at the cosy bar you can enjoy classic cocktails and shared dining dishes all day long. At JAQ, local and international flavours are combined. A number of popular signature dishes that should not be missing from the menu are, for example, the Rotterdam mussels, the Dutch Cheese platter, Rotterdam fish soup and Dutch Pancakes.
Hilton Rotterdam has contributed to the well-being and growth of the city through various initiatives. In collaboration with local organisations, charities and cultural events, they are always looking for the best ways to support and enrich the Rotterdam community.
Sustainability, social responsibility and supporting local charities are central. It all starts with awareness among the staff. Employees are encouraged by Hilton Rotterdam to remain socially involved, for example by doing volunteer work in the region.
In the past 10 years, a total of more than 4,000 community volunteer work has been done by the employees. A special collaboration is with the reintegration branch of the Salvation Army in Rotterdam, which tries to get people with a distance to the labor market back to work as quickly as possible. The hotel tackles food waste in collaboration with Too Good To Go. For a friendly price, consumers can pick up leftover food after breakfast or dinner at Hilton Rotterdam. Other examples are the Jarige Job Foundation, Homerun Ronald McDonald and the assistance provided in the welcoming of Ukrainian refugees.
To celebrate this wonderful milestone, we can give away an overnight stay for two people with breakfast together with Hilton Rotterdam.
