In 2025 it will be even easier to get to Rotterdam Centre! This is because there will be a doubling of Intercity trains that travel between Brussels and Rotterdam and a new, fast connection will be added.
With this connection it takes no less than 45 minutes shorter to get from A to B! This makes a day of shopping in Rotterdam (or Belgium) even easier.
Thanks to a faster train, fewer intermediate stops and a new starting point in Amsterdam South, the travel time to Belgium and back will be considerably shorter. The new train has room for 413 passengers who can travel between the two countries every day.
Wouter Koolmees, CEO NS: “Every traveler who chooses the train as a means of transport to Brussels helps to combat climate change. It is our job to make the green option the easy option. Due to this major expansion, we are going to Brussels more often than ever and we are offering even more travelers the opportunity of a smooth international train journey.”
Not only will there be a faster train, the existing train journeys between Rotterdam Central and Brussels South Midi will also be doubled! This train runs from Rotterdam via Breda and continues to stop at all current intermediate stations. This means, for example, that the city of Mechelen remains directly connected to the Netherlands and travelers to and from Brussels airport retain a direct train.
With these new possibilities between Brussels and Rotterdam, we welcome a lot of new visitors to Rotterdam Centre. Did you also know that Brussels was the most popular international destination for Dutch train travelers this year?
